DESCRIPTION: One of the main constraints to affordable housing production in the Bay Area is rising construction costs. The cost for construction in the Bay Area has rapidly outpaced affordable housing funds, thus rendering many projects infeasible. In 2019, JPMorgan Chase awarded a grant to EBALDC to further research the benefits and constraints of using modular construction in order to reduce costs and accelerate affordable housing production in the Bay Area. This panel will discuss some of the findings of that research, drawing on findings from several in-house projects, as well as wider industry data and interviews with a wide range of practitioners in the field, including affordable housing developers, contractors, architects, lenders, fabricators, and insurance brokers. Join us to learn about the successes and challenges in utilizing modular construction in affordable housing development.\n\nFor details, click here: https://spur.secure.nonprofitsoapbox.com/component/events/event/161
